You need to migrate to Joomla 3.4.1. This is not an upgrade but a full migration since the Joomla code base has changed complately.
We use SPupgrade (fabulous extension and worth the money!) to do that for our clients for whom we cater their migrations. You can migrate in one run from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 3.4.1
A lot of extensions and templates need to be replaced since they won't simply run on Joomla 3.4.1.
