It probably did work on your localhost cos even when you did downgrade WAMP, the better PHP version still may have been active on your machine.

You can have multiple PHP versions running. Check in your localhost Joomla.administrator under site -> system information...



Anyway, if they still have old plesk.. and therefore old anything else... move away and avoid all kind of future trouble.. the worst: being hacked!
