Thank you. Yes the DB is compatible. So when I go through the installation process and I get to the DB Configuration window do I just enter the old DB name, username and password and where it asks for a table prefix do I just enter bak_ as the prefix if these are the tables I want the installation to connect with?
You need to enter the correct
a.) MySQL user
b.) MySQL passwd for that USER
c.) The host name of the MySQL db engine
d.) The DB name on the MySQL database engine
and
e.) The table prefix of the OLD DB.
What I often do is EXPORT the entire DB to my desktop with PhpMyAdmin
and then import into a new DB with the same (or different) users/passwords
just because.
Always back up your DB and file system before doing anything you might regret later.
Actually -- above you are mentioning that you are doing the INSTALLATION process.
I am just trying to visualize what you are seeing --
In reality, you do not really need to go this route (but I think you can) -
Actually -- in the NEW installation process, you have the option of backing-up the
original tables OR is it the intent that you are installing a completely NEW installation over the old DB (which sounds like that might be your intent...)
