WordPress and Drupal and other open source projects state that they work with MariaDB (https://mariadb.com/kb/en/works-with-mariadb/). I think it would be of importance to make sure that Joomla works with MariaDB as changes with MySQL 5.6 will have many switching over in the next few years. If this is already known, it should be included in the documentation site and communicated to MariaDB.
