Do you not think that these forums would be alight with users (of all levels of experience) who couldn't log in if this was a universal state of affairs? Do you not think that logging in and out would be one of the first things tested by the developers and B-testers, both on new and updated installations?
Think about this carefully folks before labelling this issue as a bug.
If you read the first post in this thread you will see that the original problem identified was that the front end login module was not working correctly:

The thread seems to have lost its way with people posting that they have problems not being able to login to the back-end, this is not the same problem as originally posted.
