I want to say congratulation to all community members, developers, user and the guys behind JED for reaching the 9K milestone of available extensions.
Sure the idea is not a game of numbers, rather, high quality extensions, yet we should be happy that our number is increasing. ok at least, until the deadline for removing 2.5 only extensions which perhaps drops the number!
Also a question: I noticed WP has 30K and drupal at least 12K of extension. drupal offers a great tools to filter and I can see the number of active and recent version of modules (what drupal call it's extensions) is actually less. But I am not entirely sure about WP, is is the same case? I remember they were less than 15K and then jumped to 30K! I heard they do not remove older versions and hence the reason in large number of extensions. Any idea?
