Set the Blog Layout parameters in the menu item to how you would like your page displayed. By default, the first item is the Leading Article and takes the full display width. Subsequent items, up to the number you specify, are Intro Articles which display in as many columns as you specify in the #columns parameter.
If you only have 2 articles in a category and you want them both to display full width, set Leading Articles to 2 or more.
