I've tried about a half dozen times to migrate a 2.5.28 site to 3.3.6 with no success, getting blank pages or 500 errors in the process and it's getting very frustrating.
Unfortunately all developers are not adhering to the native Update protocol. Many, in fact, don't even publish the version on the component's page, so we have to go scour the Extension Manager back end to figure out what's ready and what's not. What a PITA that turns out to be.
Would it not be easier to simply uninstall ALL the aftermarket components, modules and plugins that might not be 3.x compatible, upgrade the site, and reinstall?
