I did that and got some additional help as well. The menus now work. Still have the problem where Redirect does not work. Google search picks up URL's that no longer exist on my site and displays them when you search for my site. I want to redirect those old non-existant urls to the home page.
Joomla has a system plug in called Redirect that is suppossed to do that. From the plugin manager I enabled redirect. Then under components I selected Redirect and entered the non existant old urls and entered the home url to replace them. Very straight forward to do.
The instructions indicte the .htaccess file needs to be modified to make this redirection work. They say replace the existing .htaccess with htaccess.txt. Did that but it still does not redirect. Something needs to be added to .htaccess to make redirection work but I do not know what that is. If someone knows what to change or if I am doing something else wrong please advise. Thanks
