How did you get back. was it reinstalled from a backup or was it developed from a local machine.
Check in your Admin backend System=>global configuration
verify if URL Rewriting is on. If yes, turn it off and try the front end again.
If all works fine, then find htaccess.tx in your docroot folder and rename it to .htaccess and don't forget to the rewrite back to on in your joomla admin side.
Of course this is assuming that your webhost allows rewriting by using the htaccess method.
