Thanks very much for the help. I'm pretty sure that I didn't manually insert any read mores, yet older articles in the blog layout still display with read mores. So I assumed that the intro setting created a read more automatically after x amount of characters. But maybe I edited existing demo articles that already had read mores inserted.
Guess I should look into linking the menu item rather to a module like minifrontpage news or roksprocket, which is placed in the article body position?
