General Questions/New to Joomla! 3.x • Can I access a MySQL database and query table results

I am new to Joomla. My client uses it to publish their website (all page/article based). They want to create a database table with information that is to be stored in a mysql table, and then queried from various pages in their website to show the data from the database. This would be a separate database than what Joomla uses to keep track of all of it's pages, etc.



Is this doable? What or where do I need to look at how this can be done?
