I have made and exported an EPUB file using InDesign CS6. The hope was that I would be able to upload the EPUB file on the backend of my joomla website and any visitor on the frontend would be able to download the file into ibooks on any device assuming they have ibooks. At first I tried a zip file but mobile devices do not understand the zip extension and need a free app to interpret the file just to get the EPUB file into ibooks. My next attempt had me change the legal extensions in the media manager options (Joomla) to support EPUB files. I put the extension name both in alphabetical order and at the end of the list. As a result, I can upload the file into the media manager but I cannot link words or an image to the EPUB file. I am lost at this point. Do I need to hack the EPUB file MIME type in InDesign or is this something Joomla can do: application/x-zip+ibooks under MIME Types in the media manager. Please let me know.
