I believe that the template you are using does not render components in the Home page (default menu item). I also believe that the id of the default menu item (Home page) is 435.
If the search input text is a module then you could assign a different menu id to the search result in the module parameter.
You could also create a hidden menu item of the type "Search Form or Search Results" and use this menu id in the search menu module.
