Read my post carefully. It won't be Joomla 1.5.x (where x was the last release) otherwise "Urgent - Upgrade now!" notices would be all over this site. There are none.
It is important to identify where the security breach arose. It might be an extension (in which case either update it or stop using it) but it could have arise from something else.
My issue with your post is that you advised to upgrade to J2.5 series without knowing the cause of the breach. The cause needs to be identified before advice is given as an upgrade to J2.5 might not solve the problem.

it is more possible to be an extention of 1.5 out of date. what do you must advice? find what extention is propably the problem and stay with 1.5?
