You say "Home" set to featured articles. Which "Home" on which Menu? Is that Menu set as your default?
Open the menu in Menu Manager and make sure that your chosen menu is set to Default, then click on the "Home" link and check the layout matches what you want.
IIRC, in the standard "Top" menu, the "Home" pointed to the "Home" on the Main Menu. If you're using the Top menu then you might want to look into this too.
