Business Case:
Individuals will purchase golf membership cards through my website (each card is good for one year). Golf courses will be able to log in from the front end and view active memberships (so that they can verify if a golfer's membership card is still active.) An added feature I would like is if golf courses are able to log-in and sell memberships at a discounted price. I really have no need for content access to individuals, I just need to keep up with when their membership card expires.

I was able to apply that to being able to charge for and get access to online files under Joomla and also under K2. I also have applied it to direct online sales at small sites where the owner was selling porcelain but for reasons known only to them didnt want to put all their wares online. Together with the free version of a picture viewer that allows you to edit, you can put in a line that directly goes to PPD and makes them have to pay to do whatever it is you want and also to have that picture available prior to purchase so they can see what they are buying. It also allows you to set up a post buying link to download an item. If you were to allow them to download a photo with embedded date where the photo is your own thing you provide and also shows the name of the logged on user who just paid for it, then that may be good enough to serve you for a "this user has paid" advice to anyone who needs to see if the user has paid and are not near a computer. I know all that can easily be faked but truthfully you are talking about a golf membership not access to NYSE for example. ;-} If someone is thought to have faked a membership it is extremely easy for you to prove and to have the person dealt with.
Hope that helps in some way. If that particular one doesnt help there are many online shop addons that can do what you want. PPD was just the easiest to install for my purposes. I would also choose not to accept anything but PayPal if I were you as you are then safe from any form of worry should your site ever get hacked.
