I'm not sure if this is the right place to raise this, and if it isn't please accept my apology, but I have just attempted to update a 2.5.8 installation (which was stuck at 2.5.8 and showing as up-to-date until I found the instructions elsewhere in the forum to clear the update cache) and the file that Joomla update offered me was one named Joomla_2.5.x_to_2.5.18-dev-Development-Patch_Package.zip. When I selected to apply the update the site gave me an error "Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.1 or higher to run this version of Joomla!" which I thought was strange, as I use 2.5.18 on all my sites, as I know they will work.
I downloaded the zip file from the tmp folder on the server and find that it actually contains <version>3.2.2-dev</version> according to the joomla.xml file inside it. This is why the site will not run as my host does not support PHP5.3.1 yet. I'm now having to do a manual install of 2.5.18 to get it back to where it ought to be, which is somewhat irritating, but I wanted to flag up the incorrect contents of that zip file in case anyone else has the same problem with it.
