There is no concept of storing the page information in Joomla! just like in the HTML sites. The content and the meta data are stored in the database. When a page request comes, all the necessary objects that constitute the page would be assembled on the fly.
If you are asked to edit an article, log into the site's back-end, go to Article Manager (Content -> Article Manager), search for the article and edit it. Once you save the changes, it should get reflected in the appropriate page(s).
