Migrating and Upgrading to Joomla! 3.x • Advice about updating 1.5 to 3.x

Hey y'all,

I recently transferred jobs & one of the projects I have been tasked with is updating our company website. I have been out of the Joomla! scene for quite some time & the last time I used much of it - was back in the Mambo days running on Debian.

As far as the professional side of things...

We are crrently running these on a Windows 2k server locally. I realize this is quite out of the "best practices" scheme of things, but it's what Im working with.

MS Windows Server 2k

Joomla! 1.5.3

MS-IIS 5.0

PHP 5.2.6

We have a few applications used on our site such as:

ticketing tracking system

in/out board for local employees in/out of office

intranet (nothing fancy, mostly just display & links to exchange webmail).

I want to accomplish the following:

Remove our server from the hosting process (I have an account ready to go w/ HostGator Business).

Migrate our existing site to Joomla! 3.x

Keep existing functionality for the in/out board & our ticketing system

Can any of you Joomla wizards point me in the right direction? I read a bit about SP Upgrade & it seems promising - are there any options that would yield better success/support? Just asking around here so that I can get my feet wet in here again.

Thank you & apprecaite your time.
