Installation Joomla! 3.x • Need to disable Magic Quotes

I've read through the postings on this issue, so much information! However, I'm not clear and have not been successful.



I've installed Joomla 3.2 successfully and get a message that I need to disable Magic Quotes.



I open my php5.ini file, where I have this code;

cgi.fix_pathinfo=1



I add to the php5.ini file this code;



magic_quotes_gpc = Off

magic_quotes_runtime = Off

magic_quotes_sybase = Off



What I get when going in to the administrator, is the attached jpg that says;



0 - An error has occurred.

SQL=SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM `jos_postinstall_messages`

Return to Control Panel

I can't get anywhere after that.



Please, what am I missing?
